“I finished your book and I like to say it is great! If I started reading it was like a flow. To be honest, I can’t remember when I finished a book the last time – due to lack of time, too tired, somekind of boring, too complicated…- I like the most, that it is very authentic. I even could feel your spirit if I read the chapters. Very clear, easy to read, somekind of strict, always fair to the dogs and people, keeping it interesting and even if it is serious, never missing the fun inbetween. It is your way, your concept, how you are dealing with your dogs and training them successfully. Thank you for sharing!”

“I can recommend everyone to read this book from start to the end. You made me think of my dogs – what kind of dog is each and every one of my dogs. Made me think about my training issues, training setups. Thinking about how my plan B is – and is it good enough, really nice excercises, so many nice tips, all so well explained by Oliver Kiraly. You really made me think and think hard. Thank you Oliver!”

“Just got Balance in the mail. It appears to be a masterpiece for serious amateurs. I know we play a different game in the States, but I think there will be plenty to learn from it and your perspective. I can’t wait to finish reading it (several times).”

“…All I’ve learned in these three last years, was not mentioned in any of the books I already have. But you finally did it and I want to thank you for that. If I would recommend one book about Retrieverwork, it would for sure be yours. And the title of the book is so simple but it could not be better, because it’s indeed all about balance !”

“It is a wonderful manual with great tools. I am learning something on every page and I am sure, I will pick it up again and again to reread. I especially like the the overall structure and style of writing (Almost feels like a one-on-one training session with you ? It is easy to read – even if english isn‘t one’s first language.
Besides knowledge and experience you succeed in getting across an overall positive, optimistique, clear and can-do-feeling, which made me happy and confident, that possibly even I could be a good handler for my dog one day (which is my number-1-Goal)
It is worth every cent I paid.”

“…This book is a treasure of advice, guidance, thoughts and tips to assist professionals, amateurs and all gundog ownersenjoy the partnership, relationship, love and training of gundogs. I certainly will recommend it to all who wish to enjoy and learn from the life path of dog training, and achieve ‘The Balance’.”

“I live in a country that doesn’t have any Field Trials or even Working Tests, which means that very few people train retrievers for those kinds of events. I have to buy books, DVDs, read forum posts and, when money and time aren’t a big issue, travel to learn more. Just looking at the stack of books and DVDs I think I’ve spent at least 500 Euros on retriever training material. However, I still felt like something was missing, that there was some crucial piece of information that somehow got lost in the translation from real life training to DVD or print.
Reading The Balance, I feel like it’s some sort of glue that ties together everything I’ve seen or read or tried. It’s as if until now I’ve been reading cookbooks with recipes and now there’s this book that tells me why this ingredient comes before this other ingredient, why it’s a bad thing to mix this and that and so on. Congratulations on an excellent book, Mr. Kiraly!”

“When I started to train my first show golden I had lot of training problems and because of it I bought some books. The main problem when you start training is to understand the dog and to solve the handler or the dog bonding faults. That’s the reason why I stopped to buy the “how to do training books”. Beautiful exercises, everything correct but…what if me or my dog doesn’t follow the book’s expectations because of poor relationship ?
That’s the main difference between what I’ve read in my past and “The Balance”. Oliver spends lot of pages explaining the relationship between handler and dog and clearly guides a new handler with an easy to follow program, using simple words, from the beginning of the handler and dog life together to the open level training and the competitions. Oliver’s book is a must have. Being a professional trainer he doesn’t forget how hard the start of this activity can be. Thank you Oliver!”

“to be honest I was very skeptical of your book at the beginning. I thought again one of many, then my friend, Roland gave it to me for Christmas. I read it now for a few days and I really must confess it’s the best dog book I’ve ever read.”
